The Position:

Based in Limerick and reporting to the Head of Site Operations, this is a management position responsible for executing our site Facilities and Engineering processes in support of customer and business requirements while also driving continuous improvement and the evolution of our site systems.

The core responsibility of the role is in the provision of leadership in compliance, engineering & facilities management and the successful candidate will be expected to be proactive in presenting & implementing best practices in these areas along driving with organisational improvement and innovation.

The Position is responsible for:

  • Development & execution of compliance strategy for all facilities, engineering and validation activity on site working closely with our Quality and Operations functions.
  • Quality and risk management as it pertains to the functions of facilities, engineering & validation in support of our services to customer, our environmental responsibility, and health & safety on site.
  • Provision of engineering expertise to site directly and leveraging expertise of our approved vendor base to deliver a sustained high standard of service to customer.
  • Development and execution of the site preventative maintenance schedule including statutory & regulatory compliance elements of site facilities management.
  • Management of our approved vendor base in accordance with the requirements of our Quality Management System and facilities procedures around vendor approval, permit to work and vendor management on site.
  • Owner of the site change control process in terms of initiation & execution, collaborating with Quality Assurance on change control initiation, notification to customer, approval & sign-off.
  • Project management for site improvement projects, enhancements to customer services, strategic developments & sustainability initiatives.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) on validation protocols and the execution of mapping & calibration activities to maintain compliance of our critical temperature environments.
  • Leading and contributing as an SME to third party audits – regulatory audits, customer audits, and certification audits.
  • Driving our Permanent Audit Readiness program on site and proactively presenting continuous improvements relating to audit readiness as it relates to facilities, engineering, and validation.
  • Proactive reliability management of site systems – execution of reliability studies and the execution and documentation of the resulting reliability actions.
  • Manage our site Facility Maintenance system ensuring all facilities and engineering activity is planned and logged on the system and that the system is used to communicate scheduling and compliance to the wider site management team.
  • Responsible for vendor pricing review – agree all service level detail and costs with all site vendors annually and actively manage service and cost with vendors to ensure the best service and value is delivered for customers and the business.
  • Responsible for implementation and management of vendor contracts defining terms of business with key vendors.
  • Be a primary management interface with the customer on compliance matters relating to facilities, engineering, and validation.
  • Manage costs and budget in line with customer agreed costs and within agreed site budgets.
  • Execute a structured and fully documented and traceable process of site management encompassing key processes such as change control, contractor control, structured problem solving, cost control, and strategic planning.
  • Pro-active continuous improvement aimed at reducing cost, increasing efficiency, and increasing value for our customers.
  • Work closely with site EHS Management in the sustainable and cost-effective management of site input services and output waste streams.
  • Contribute directly to and manage vendor input to, a robust on-call and emergency call-out process that supports the requirements of our site critical systems and the service requirements of our customers.
  • As a senior manager to pro-actively contribute to our site management system of employee meetings, site leadership meetings, action ownership and reporting.
  • Maintain a detailed library of site information such as drawings, specifications, manuals, reports etc ensuring that the required information is available and to an auditable standard in support of site operations and external audit requests.

 

Given that our operations respond to developing customer need, the position will require that there is a high degree of responsiveness & flexibility in meeting the current and future requirements of our customers. This may involve expansion of duties or responsibilities beyond our existing site in Limerick.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • The candidate will have a primary degree in an Engineering/Technical or related discipline with a proven track record of process compliance management, management of maintenance schedules, continuous improvement & optimisation within the area of GMP Operations, site management, or industrial process management and control.
  • Will have 5 + years of facilities management, process management, or manufacturing engineering experience in a regulated, compliance driven industry including experience of validation process management.
  • The candidate will be a strategic thinker and be innovative in the approach to design and delivery.
  • Candidate will have had customer facing experience through solution development and deployment.
  • The candidate will have experience of managing temperature controlled & validated environments.
  • The successful candidate should have a working knowledge and be proficient in the following areas:
  • Quality Management Systems, Facility Management Systems.
  • Regulatory and statutory compliance.
  • Audit leadership.
  • Operating to customer service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Vendor management – vendor service level agreements, permit to work processes and control of vendor activity.
  • Management of site security and access control systems.
  • Cost management – operating within agreed budget, presenting costs for proposed works, managing vendor costs within agreed SLAs.
  • Effective report writing for technical documents, regulatory submissions, and customer communications.
  • Experience of lean quality systems & structured problem solving would be an advantage.
  • Process mapping and solution design techniques.
  • Excel and data analysis, project management and application of ERP within the supply chain.
